Mixpanel MCP Tools for AI Agents
Let an agent compare event volume, analyze funnels and retention, find profiles, and trace a user's event history in Mixpanel.
Available Tools
16 tools available in this integration
Mixpanel.AggregateProperty Sum or average a numeric event property over time.
Mixpanel.ComparePeriods Compare one event's volume between two periods, matched in length.
Mixpanel.FindProfiles Find Mixpanel user profiles by property filter or cohort membership.
Mixpanel.GetEngagementFrequency Get how habitually users perform an event.
Mixpanel.GetEventTrend Get a time series for one event, optionally split by a property.
Mixpanel.GetFunnel Get step-by-step conversion for a saved Mixpanel funnel.
Mixpanel.GetRetention Get a cohort retention table with retention percentages computed.
Mixpanel.GetSavedReport Read the data behind a saved Mixpanel Insights report.
Mixpanel.GetUserActivity Get one user's chronological event history, newest first.
Mixpanel.ListCohorts List the saved cohorts in this Mixpanel project, largest first.
Mixpanel.ListEventProperties List the property names recorded on an event, most frequent first.
Mixpanel.ListEvents List the event names tracked in this Mixpanel project, ranked by volume.
Mixpanel.ListFunnels List the saved funnels in this Mixpanel project, with their IDs.
Mixpanel.ListProfiles Find Mixpanel user profiles by property filter or cohort membership.
Mixpanel.ListPropertyValues List the values observed for one property of an event.
Mixpanel.WhoAmI Verify the Mixpanel connection and list the projects it can reach.
Why agent-optimized tools matter
Built for intent, not API schemas
Ask the agent to "find the biggest drop in our signup funnel and explain which step changed." Arcade picks the right Mixpanel reads without guessing event names, funnel IDs, or property names first.
Up to 100x fewer tokens
Mixpanel discovery reads return names, IDs, counts, and summaries first, so an agent can choose an event, cohort, or funnel without loading full time series or user histories into the model.
Complete the workflow end to end
Find the right event, inspect its properties, compare periods, measure funnels, and check retention through one toolkit designed around the complete product-analytics task.
Make actions predictable and controlled
Arcade tools return structured results and useful errors across users and runs. Teams can apply scope restrictions, redaction, and approval policies so agents follow the same controls every time.
Securing Mixpanel
The more capabilities agents get, the more useful they are. However, more capabilities bring more risks of undesired effects such as data loss and exfiltration.
This is why Arcade provides you with contextual rules that dictate how and when a tool is allowed to run. Arcade’s contextual access lets you govern tool visibility and behavior at every stage of execution and control who can see a tool, what inputs are allowed, and what comes back.
Learn about Contextual Access PoliciesFor Mixpanel, you can implement some of these policies:
- Decide which tools an agent is allowed to see at all. A tool that is never listed cannot be called, whoever is asking.
- Inspect the inputs a call is about to run with, and block it or send it for human approval when they fall outside what the agent should do unsupervised.
- Redact Mixpanel.FindProfiles results, stripping email addresses, phone numbers, names, and other direct identifiers before they reach the model.
- Strip user IDs, IP addresses, and free-form event properties from Mixpanel.GetUserActivity results, so the model sees behavioral events without personal identifiers or raw metadata.
- Redact Mixpanel.GetSavedReport results, removing user-level identifiers and sensitive property values before confidential analytics reach the model.
How to use Mixpanel with your agent
Connect Mixpanel to an MCP client with Arcade, then follow the setup from authentication through your first analytics prompt. The walkthrough shows where to add the shared API key and verify the projects it can reach.
Your questions, answered
A Mixpanel MCP server exposes product-analytics capabilities as structured tools that an AI agent can call through the Model Context Protocol. Agents can inspect events, trends, funnels, retention, cohorts, profiles, and user activity after the configured Mixpanel credential is available.
Arcade provides an Arcade-built Mixpanel MCP server rather than relying on a Mixpanel first-party endpoint. It adds authenticated tool access, agent-oriented actions, approval and redaction policies, and one connection path for supported clients.
Arcade agents can discover tracked events, properties, property values, cohorts, and saved funnels; analyze trends, period comparisons, engagement frequency, funnels, retention, and saved reports; find profiles; and inspect an individual user's chronological activity. All 16 actions are read-only.
The configured Mixpanel API key or secret must have access to the projects and read data your workflow needs. Arcade's available Mixpanel actions are read-only, so they do not require permissions to modify events, profiles, cohorts, or reports.
No. Mixpanel uses one shared API key or secret configured once for the integration, rather than a separate account connection for every user. Every call runs with the access granted to that configured credential.
Yes. Contextual Access policies can require human approval before a Mixpanel call, redact fields from responses, or hide actions from an agent. Because every available Mixpanel action is read-only, there are no write or destructive Mixpanel actions that require approval by default.
Arcade proxies Mixpanel API calls and does not persist your Mixpanel content as part of normal tool execution. The configured credential is brokered and stored encrypted at rest, and the model never receives it.
Any framework or client that can connect to Arcade's MCP gateway or tool APIs works, including LangChain, OpenAI Agents, CrewAI, Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, Visual Studio Code, Microsoft Copilot Studio, and GitHub Copilot.
Arcade continues using the configured Mixpanel credential while it remains valid. If the API key or secret is revoked, rotated, or otherwise stops working, calls stop until the credential is reconnected or reconfigured.
Calls remain subject to Mixpanel's API rate limits and any limits applied to the configured project or credential. The available Mixpanel actions are read-only, and no separate per-action quota is specified here.
